Dry carbon FIbre
Dry carbon or pre-preg carbon is carbon fibre with resin pre-impregnated into the carbon fibre cloth. This is then placed into an autoclave and using high pressure and heat until the part has cured, which fixes any irregularities and strengthens the material. This creates a dry look that can be clear coated to provide a glossy finish.
wet carbon fibre
Wet carbon fibre is carbon fibre cloth coated in resin and then placed into a mould.
The resin and carbon cloth are vacuum-sealed to cure. This forces the resin into the cloth leaving a glossy apperance.
The glossy look can also be made matte by sanding.
